The CMC Altcoin Season Index compares the rolling 90-day performance of the top 100 eligible CMC-ranked coins against Bitcoin, excluding stablecoins and wrapped or asset-backed tokens. If 75% outperform Bitcoin, it is Altcoin Season; if 25% or fewer outperform Bitcoin, it is Bitcoin Season. The index refreshes daily.

The CoinMarketCap 100 Index, or CMC100, is a market-cap-weighted benchmark for the top 100 qualifying cryptocurrency projects ranked on CMC, excluding stablecoins and tokens pegged to other crypto assets. It rebalances monthly and refreshes every five minutes.

The CoinMarketCap 20 Index, or CMC20, is a market-cap-weighted benchmark for the top 20 qualifying cryptocurrency projects, with additional exclusions for assets with limited investability. It rebalances monthly and refreshes every second.

CoinMarketCap market-pair ranking considers Reported Volume, Liquidity Score and Web Traffic Factor. Liquidity Score grades markets from 0 to 1,000 to help users compare expected trading slippage, with higher scores generally reflecting more liquid markets.

The Confidence Indicator appears at the market-pair level and reflects CoinMarketCap’s confidence in the accuracy of reported volume. It uses three bands: High, Moderate and Low.

A Low Confidence reading is not proof of wash trading. It indicates that reported volume is less consistent with the supporting market signals evaluated by the model.

Exchange rankings use top spot market-pair rankings and Confidence results, helping users review venue activity with more context than reported volume alone.
