ZetaChain's primary mission is to eliminate fragmentation. In Web3, liquidity, users, and data are siloed across hundreds of blockchains. Similarly, in AI, users are locked into single model providers. ZetaChain acts as a universal base layer, providing native connectivity so a single application can access assets like native BTC and execute logic across Ethereum, Solana, Sui, and others simultaneously (ZetaChain). This "build once, launch everywhere" model aims to make crypto as interconnected as the internet.
2. Technology & Architecture
Built on the Cosmos SDK, ZetaChain uses a novel gateway system. Its network of validators acts as decentralized observers on connected chains. For Bitcoin—which lacks smart contracts—validators use a Threshold Signature Scheme (TSS) to collectively secure a vault. When BTC is sent to this vault, the protocol mints a decentralized representation (ZRC-20 BTC) on ZetaChain, enabling Bitcoin to trigger smart contract logic without centralized custodians (ZetaChain). The chain is EVM-compatible, simplifying development.
3. AI Interoperability Extension
ZetaChain 2.0, launched in January 2026, expands the interoperability thesis to artificial intelligence. Its AI Portal routes requests optimally across leading models like GPT-5.5 and Claude Opus. The Private Memory Layer encrypts and stores user conversation history on-chain, giving users control over their AI context (The Defiant). The first consumer interface, Anuma, demonstrates this by letting users switch between AI models without losing their private chat history.
