ZetaChain was conceived to solve the critical problem of fragmentation in the crypto ecosystem. Its original value proposition was enabling "omnichain" decentralized applications (dApps), allowing a single smart contract to manage assets and logic across any connected blockchain (CoinMarketCap). 2. Technology & Architecture
Built using the Cosmos SDK, ZetaChain is a Proof-of-Stake Layer 1 blockchain that is also compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), making it familiar to a broad developer base. Its key technical differentiator is its approach to cross-chain communication. Instead of bridges, a decentralized set of validators acts as observers on connected chains like Bitcoin, Solana, and Ethereum. They reach consensus on events and use a Threshold Signature Scheme to collectively manage outbound transactions, significantly reducing custody risk. For example, this allows native Bitcoin to trigger smart contract logic on ZetaChain without being wrapped by a central party.
3. AI Interoperability Focus
The project's current direction is embodied in ZetaChain 2.0 and its flagship consumer interface, Anuma. This system provides two core components: an AI Portal that routes requests to various model providers (like ChatGPT and Claude), and a Private Memory Layer that keeps user context encrypted and user-controlled. This allows for persistent conversations across different AI models without sacrificing privacy. The native ZETA token is integral to this model, as locking it grants access to AI service credits, directly tying token utility to the consumption of private AI.
